The cruise registration form is now available here.
Please submit it by July 4th 2008.We are planning to repeat the basic itinerary we had planned for last Summer. Of course the dates may be adjusted and some other minor modifications will need to be made. We are hoping to establish "Port Captains" at each stop along the way to assist with any activity planning, etc..
Wed., 7/30/08
Skippers meeting in AM at WHYC Clubhouse followed by departure for Block Island. Our club mooring is available and hopefully a couple privately owned moorings will also be available. Beyond that the Harbormaster should be contacted to rent Town moorings. Block Island is well known to our Club members and bike riding and exploration are always enjoyable at Block. Lots of shops, restaurants, and entertaining spots such as Ballard's are available to enjoy.Thurs., 7/31/08
Depart Block for Newport Harbor and the New York Yacht Club. Needless to say, Lots to do and see in Newport. We have arranged cash bar cocktails at the NYYC followed by dinner at the "Station 10" Building. Coat and tie required for dinner. Six moorings will be available from NYYC with some additional moorings from Ida Lewis. Rafting is permitted unless weather conditions preclude it. Yachts greater than 65 feet in length will have to contact the Harbormaster for use of "Tall Ships" moorings and information on anchorage areas.Fri., 8/1/08
Leave Newport and cruise up the Bay to Bristol Harbor and the Bristol Yacht Club where moorings and the Club's hospitality is available. Again rafting is permitted. Vessels greater than 65 feet will have to anchor. There is a 1.5 mile walk to town where there are several good restaurants and the Herreshoff Museum. We are going to investigate the possibility of leaving a vehicle for our use at the Club. Bristol Yacht Club has a popular Friday Night Buffet to which we are invite. This very reasonably priced and reportedly excellent.Sat., 8/2/08
Back down the Bay to Dutch Harbor and the Dutch Harbor Shipyard and Marina. Moorings will be available and rafting is permitted. They require a mooring application to be completed and this form will be available at WHYC or by clicking on a link (to be established). Large yachts will have to anchor in the North Anchorage area. Launch Service is available and also covers North Anchorage. Heads and showers are also available. Can walk to Jamestown, and will probably set up some sort of party ashore.Sun., 8/3/08 Return to WHYC and an afternoon Post Cruise Party.
Please note the Quad Party is scheduled for 8/2/08 so any cruisers who wish to attend it should drop out early and return to Watch Hill. Please register early so we can finalize arrangements ASAP.
