As the summer approaches, the Junior Sailing Program is happy to announce the return of another season of sailing hosted by the Watch Hill Yacht Club. Please join us to learn how to sail, while having fun and develop a lifelong appreciation for one of the best sports in the world...
To be a part of Summer 2010 Sailing Season, enroll now! Registration for the WHYC Junior Sailing is open to all juniors as well as sponsored guests. Our goal is to foster a passion for sailing that will continue to inspire and grow with every junior sailor.
Special Events:
Start date for the July Session will be Monday, June 28th and August Session, Monday, July 26th. This year there will be many exciting events on and off the water. Stay tuned to the junior calendar and new junior sailing website for additional specifics as we get closer to the sailing season. This season, the WHYC will host its annual Optimist Regatta on July 8th and Club 420 on July 29th. Additional events will include family cookouts following Monday Night Races, opportunities to sail with the WH-15 sailors, as well as many other exciting events that have occurred in the past. We are happy to announce the return of lessons in Sailboarding, Team Racing in Optimist classification and c420s, clinics with visiting coaches, sailing on big boats including the WH-15, BLUE BELL, that was donated to WHYCSA and is made available to the Jr. Program, and many more fun filled activities on the water.
The instructors are key to the Junior Sailing Program. Each of our instructors has particular talents and great sailing experience that lend to the program's success. Whether it's the technical expertise, racing prowess, fun-loving character or organizational skills, they all have a love of sailing that is catching! Each has made the commitment to teach our junior sailors and will continue their dedication this summer. We are very fortunate to have the Junior Sailing Instructors, co-headed by Natalie Sawyer of Columbia University and graduate of Southern Connecticut, Teddy Weeks, as well the return of Erik Farnsworth, graduate of Springfield College, and Corey Fast of University of Aberdeen. We are happy to welcome our instructors to another successful season on the water in Watch Hill!
